How to Keep Your St. Louis Home Comfortable This Winter

March 15, 2017

Maintaining your furnace is essential to keeping it running well and keeping you and your family cozy during the St. Louis colder months. If you already called Morgner Inc. Air Conditioning & Heating for your annual check-up, you’re absolutely ahead of things. If you haven’t, it’s not too late. Give us a call at 314-262-4541 to get one scheduled.

There are plenty of easy things you can do in between professional maintenance to advance the efficiency of your furnace and keep it functioning in the best shape. Try these furnace maintenance tips:

  • Yes, we’ve said it before, but we can’t highlight this enough: check your filters often and clean or replace them when suggested. This is such a simple way to increase the airflow through your furnace and maintain peak efficiency.
  • Keep all your vents and cool air returns clear of blockages. This means keeping any ventilation outside of your home clear.
  • Test your thermostat frequently to ensure it’s operating properly. Simply turn it on and gradually raise the temperature setting until you notice your furnace turn on. If it doesn’t turn on, look back to our blog post on furnace repair for more thermostat tips, or give us a call.
  • If you notice dust collecting around your cool air returns or a great deal of dirt within your ducts, consider having your ducts professionally cleaned. To find out more about duct cleaning and how to determine if it’s time to hire someone, check out our blog on duct cleaning.

Keeping you and your family warm and comfy matters to us. For more plans on DIY furnace maintenance or to set-up a tune-up with one of our professionals, call Morgner Inc. Air Conditioning & Heating at 314-262-4541. We’re happy to help!
