Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any sunlight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That spreads far beyond having annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are four that we find particularly helpful here in St. Louis:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean quite a bit of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside also. There are a host of fixes that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty basic fixes for homeowners to do themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s usually recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some could last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can provide a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they can potentially better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of contaminants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service performed annually helps make sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 314-262-4541  to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
