Spring is finally here. We’re almost sure your to-do list already feels too long, but we have a handful of things that will save you some headaches and keep you cozy in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in St. Louis and the last thing you want is to discover is that you need AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now could save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of things to check because it's so important and so often left unaddressed. If your air filter is a mess, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which diminishes the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers pulled off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and replace them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can inhibit your system and cause it to reduce its efficiency.
- Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we come in to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it running at optimal efficiency. Spring is the best time to set up your tune-up so any issues or AC repair that needs to be made can be handled before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with all of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 314-262-4541.
